Yes, there is free legal software ready to download.  There are 100's if not thousands of free  full version software programs, they are not demos, free ware or shareware, the license doesn't run out after 30 day & there is no trail period. They are called  "open source" software.

There are many open source replacement software that can replace  commercial software. Most of these programs work just as well  with  many of the same features or almost as many features as the commercial version. The biggest difference is the price.  Open source software is free  & in most cases it is free for commercial & and private use.

One of the biggest and most common open source software is "open office".  It is totally free comes in many different languages.  It is a full office program, with data base, drawing program, text editor, spreadsheet & presentation programs. The cost of all this nothing, it is 100% free and legal.  You can download open office from http://www.openoffice.org  It is an excellent program.  The best way to find alternative versions to commercial software is via "open source" sites.  

It  is also an excellent way to learn new "computer programs" without having to spend money buying the program.  It could also be an excellent way to learn new valuable skills and employers require,  or you can start a new hobby.
