Traveling Alone & Loving It
If
you are like many people, you probably dread the idea of traveling
alone. Well first let's stop calling it "alone", let's call it
travailing "solo". Traveling alone sounds so lonely, but traveling solo
sounds much for fun.
Well, the good news is you could not be
more wrong. Just think of all the "problems"of travailing with someone
or in a group.
Traveling alone can open a whole lot of new opportunities. Here are some simple tips:
Talk to people you don't know. If you see someone alone that looks like you might hit it off. go over and say hi, ask a question, ask advice.
Don't plan to go to place that are geared for couples or families. look for places that are geared for solo travels or singles.
Don't be afraid to stay in a youth hostel to save some money. Youth hostels is not really a good name, it is a great place for meeting other people like your self. There is many time a lounge for all the guests to "hang out" it is a great opportunities to meet many new people , and you never know you just might end up making a life long friend.
Buy a guide book that is geared for the "solo traveler" it will have loads of information on where you can meet people , and possible events.
Eating Out is the part so many of us dread the idea of eating along in a restaurant. There is nothing worse then being alone in a restaurant. Here are so tips to enjoy eating solo.
- Go to places where you can sit at the counter.
- Bring a good book, newspaper etc and enjoy the company own company.
- Learn the art of "people watching" you will be amazed by how much you can learn from watching people interact.
- Take the time to catch up on sending post cards & letters.
- Check to see if there are restaurant with a "communal table".
- Don't go to romantic restaurant.
Now
what do you do alone in your hotel room, is a place many
people feel lonely. There are many things that you can enjoy, and
actually be glad that you went "solo". Take a long hot bubble
bath, put on some relaxing music, watch a move that you have wanted to
see for a long time.
There is an other option,
stay at a hotel where there is a communal "living room", there you
could hang out , make new friends, and not have the feeling
of being "alone".
